Shaneika Burchell-Kerr is the CEO and Founder of Monlatic LLC, formerly known as Breakthrough to Entrepreneur LLC. With over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, she has mentored over 1000 successful entrepreneurs in establishing multiple income streams through digital platforms. Through her digital courses, personalized coaching, and involvement in well-regarded continuing education programs in New York and Connecticut, she equips entrepreneurs, particularly mothers, to launch and grow their own businesses. As a Shopify Partner, Kajabi Hero, and Certified Meta Data Analyst, she has gained recognition as an ecommerce leader and marketing expert in her industry. She proudly identifies herself as a global success strategist. Her worldwide students and clients have achieved impressive success, with many reporting earnings of 5, 6, and 7 figures in various areas such as drop shipping, print on demand, digital courses and eBooks, network marketing, and social media marketing.Â
Like many entrepreneurs, Coach Kerr embarked on her entrepreneurial journey from scratch and now shares her experiences to inspire women and mothers aspiring to become successful entrepreneurs.Â
Her entrepreneurial journey began when she became a mother for the first time. Faced with the daily decision of dropping her child off at daycare while she headed to work, she was haunted by the fear of missing her child's important milestones. Can you relate? This desire to be present for her child's school activities, trips, and parent-teacher meetings led her to shift her mindset towards entrepreneurship, allowing her to earn on her own terms.Â
However, her journey to entrepreneurship was fraught with challenges because she lacked a mentor to guide her through the process. She progressed from selling fashion jewelry out of her home to owning a physical storefront in the Bronx, New York. It was not until the birth of her second child that she realized the time-consuming nature of her physical business and decided to delve into social media and e-commerce. This pivot enabled her to automate her entire business and experience true freedom. She dedicated years to learning the business, made mistakes, and faced financial setbacks, but she ultimately pieced together a successful blueprint.Â
In January 2020, she was fired from a job that paid her less than $2000 per month. However, she managed to replace her income with her e-commerce business, generating over $12,000 monthly. Not only did she achieve success for herself, but she also dedicated her time to empowering her children, who inspired her on her motherhood journey, to become entrepreneurs. She established an online boutique for her son, Nathaniel Kerr, and guided her daughter, Imani Ariana Grant, in becoming the author of 4 children's science books.Â
"The greatest joy of being my own boss was having the freedom to help my two children learn the art of entrepreneurship. My goal is to ensure they live a purposeful life. In fact, this is every mother's dream. God freed me to walk in my purpose. This is why I am dedicated to helping others create a life of freedom through my coaching programs, products, and services."Â
Her most recent achievement is the launch of her own drop shipping program, designed to assist entrepreneurs in starting a business without the hassle of purchasing, stocking, and shipping inventory. This project aims to provide Caribbean business owners with a path to six-figure earnings without having to migrate, seek higher salaries, or work multiple jobs.Â
As a native of the beautiful island of Jamaica, Coach Kerr remembers her mother's migration to the United States to work in the hospitality industry.Â
In an interview with Smile Jamaica, TVJ, Coach Kerr expressed her passion for this project. "She did not want to leave us, but she lost her factory job, and this was the best way for her to provide for her kids. After migrating to the United States and having my first child, I realized how hard it must have been for my mother to live paycheck to paycheck, leaving her kids with her mom, my grandmother, so she could go to work. I did not want that for my child, and I saw entrepreneurship as a solution. I found major success in entrepreneurship through drop shipping, and I was passionate about helping others achieve the same. However, I was unable to assist Caribbean entrepreneurs due to significant limitations."Â
In 2020, she recognized that aspiring business owners in the Caribbean faced obstacles in pursuing drop shipping, primarily due to limited access to global payment options. This included PayPal, which was not a supported online payment processor for businesses based in Trinidad & Tobago and other islands. Even in Jamaica, entrepreneurs could accept PayPal, but the reimbursement process could take up to 30 days. She spent an entire year developing a solution, leading to the establishment of Drop Ship This in 2021.
This platform offers individuals serious about online business access to high-quality products, fast shipping for their customers, and a ready-to-launch Shopify website that accepts Shopify Payment gateway, PayPal, and other globally recognized payment options.Â
The program's beauty lies in the fact that participating merchants do not need to maintain inventory; they only pay for what their customers purchase. They also do not have to handle order fulfillment, as Drop Ship This manages inventory and order fulfillment. Each merchant receives a website that they can customize with their branding and manage their marketing. Earnings are paid out in their local currency within minutes or up to only 5 business days, with payouts currently being made twice per week. Over 100 entrepreneurs have successfully enrolled in this program and are enjoying the benefits of entrepreneurship.Â
The program is open to applicants from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, The Bahamas, Guyana, Antigua, and more. Merchants also have access to over 10 pre-recorded modules, providing comprehensive guidance on managing their Shopify website, launching a brand successfully with pre-launch campaigns, establishing an online presence on social media, and more. Marketing training is also available to help merchants grow their businesses to six figures and beyond.
Current merchants describe this opportunity as a lifesaver, while others see it as a dream come true.Â
In her efforts to help more Caribbean entrepreneurs enter the digital space, Coach Kerr created the Digital Success Conference, the first business conference of its kind. The inaugural conference, held at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica on May 27, 2023, attracted over 60 in-person attendees and over 500 virtual participants. The conference featured over 8 industry leaders and showcased students who shared their success stories. Over 200 new entrepreneurs emerged from the conference, with over 50 new businesses launched within the first 60 days (about 2 months) after the event.Â
